The obverse of the commemorative gold coin is proudly embellished with an American Bald Eagle mid-flight, carrying an olive branch in its right talon. The eagle with the olive branch is an illustrious US symbol of peace, and it was based on the 1945 rendition of the US National Seal. 

The reverse of the US Mint WWII gold coin took inspiration from the 1945 WWII Victory Medal. The sun from that medal, 75 years later, has now risen to high noon and beams over olive branches on this new US Mint WWII gold coin.
