The officially licensed silver coin replicates one of the most famous battles in the galactic civil war between the Empire and the Rebels from the STAR WARS™ saga - the Battle of Hoth. Struck by the New Zealand Mint from three ounces of 99.9% silver in proof quality, the motive of the coin is partially finished in color. Thereby adding a particular dramatic effect to the scene from the film "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back". The motive depicts several AT-AT Walker™, as well as an AT-ST Walker™ in battle against the rebels. On the ground, a Snowtrooper™ attempts to shoot a missile, while an Imperial Star Destroyer™ monitors the battle from the sky. The reverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the year of issue "2022" and the denomination "TEN DOLLARS".

In the fifth episode of the STAR WARS™ saga, Darth Vader™ succeeds in tracking down and attacking the hidden Rebel base on the ice planet of Hoth. Knowing the Rebels would not be able to withstand a direct attack against the Empire, they immediately began evacuating the Echo Base. Due to a protective shield, the Rebels were able to force Imperial forces to fight on the ground, buying enough time to send evacuation transports to other locations. Before General Veers™ and his Blizzard unit could destroy the protective shield generator, Luke Skywalker™, his allies and the majority of the Alliance leadership managed to escape from Echo Base.
