Mirror Images Of Queen Elizabeth II, Young And Old
This “Double Portrait” coin shows a pair of profiles of one of the most beloved monarchs in world history. They’re mirror images of Queen Elizabeth II with a mature portrait in the foreground that depicts The Queen in the final years of her reign with a youthful portrait of the young monarch when she ascended to the throne in 1952. Inscriptions on the coin are “HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II,” “IN MEMORIAM,” and “1926 2022.”
The regal design was created by David Cornell, an English artist and sculptor who has designed numerous official coins from the British Royal Mint depicting members of the Royal family. It was struck in a full ounce of highly pure 99.9% fine silver with an absolutely gorgeous Proof-Like (PL) finish. That means that even though this commemorative wasn’t struck as a proof, its brilliant and reflective finish has earned it a “Proof-Like” designation with fields that exhibit a higher-than-normal degree of reflectivity very much like a Proof coin.
